On the Closure of Beaches due to Algae Bloom

This is too bad and happens too often. Killing weeds with herbicide does nothing to prevent or address this problem. If anything there is evidence that it exacerbates it by adding extra nutrients (decaying weeds) and depleting oxygen levels. 

I would support investing a greater portion of the bed tax into getting wastewater service expanded around the lake. We need to stop spending it on herbicides and squandering it on things like the Pops Concerts which could be funded privately.

If elected I promise to try to get support from my colleagues to tighten the reigns and right the ship on the bed tax fund, be an efficiency watchdog especially regarding wastewater treatment, and support our tourism industry by looking for cost effective ways to improve the quality of ALL of our waters.
